White Swan

Today was a little better. Claire only had a few meldowns. We started the day at breakfast. She can eat!!! She loves her congee, but we found out, only plain. We stopped at the playground on our way back to the room. It took a few minutes for her to warm up and play with the other children, but then she was off! She loved the slides.

We then went back to the civil affairs office and got our adoption certificates, then it was off to apply for Claire's passport. After, we took a cab to the White Swan. It is not much to look at from the outside, but very pretty on the inside. Not that we looked, but we did not notice the red couched between the side door, downstairs and the front door.

We borrowed a stoller from a shop and she said that two and half weeks ago, she became "one of us" and she was so happy to meet others. We tried the stoller, it worked for a few minutes. We will try again at the zoo tomorrow. We were on and off teh island very quickly. Claire's big meltdown of the day was in the cab. She had a fit. While we were there, she was not happy at all. We decided that she must be hungry, so we went back to our motel where we and half of our table partners from Beijing sat down to dinner. It was nice to be eating together again. James is always trying something new. Tonight it was fried pig intestines. Ewww!

James has really taken to the other James in our group. He must say a few times a day how nice he is and how much he enjoys him. All of you know how out of character that is for James, so you know this guy must be special! We have invited their family to come out and visit. I do hope they take us up on it. They are the ones who lost their luggage and lived in the same clothes for three days. Very good sports about it! They have two teenage daughters here with them, I think the hardest part for them was their loss of hair gel!!!
